Running the Yard Since 1977

History


The Nu Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on a ICE cold Sunday, on April 24, 1977 on the campus of Old Dominion University. The nine men who were chartered at Old Dominion University will forever be known as "The New Birth". Since 1977, many brave men have been blessed with the opportunity to join Nu Theta and carry the light high. Brothers from all across have the world, carrying many different trades have contributed to Nu Theta.

Chapter Objective


The objectives of Nu Theta shall be to; supply voice and direction in efforts to create change and innovation in our community and campus. To maintain the ambition and desire of its members, as well as, embrace the qualities of brotherhood, spirituality, and need-based services by the guidance of our hearts. Stay congruent with our oath as Alpha men: to possess traits in integrity, humility, virtue, and high academic excellence in restoring the brand of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the Nu Theta Chapter.




Mission Statement


Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., develops leaders, promotes brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities

Hazing

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. strictly prohibits hazing in any form whether physical or mental as a term or condition of membership in the organization. Hazing is illegal and a crime in most jurisdictions. Candidates to the organization should participate only in the sanctioned membership process of the fraternity. Candidates must not agree to submit to hazing in order to obtain fraternity membership.

Candidates must not submit themselves, or agree to submit themselves, to any membership activities that are prohibited by the fraternity. Members of Alpha Phi Alpha are forbidden from requiring any candidate to engage in prohibited membership activities. Members of Alpha Phi Alpha are not authorized to require any candidate to engage in prohibited membership activities.
